And, this is so...Ok, that last line cracked me up!

And, this is so true!!!

I have experienced this with my boys before, especially at church. My kids would show up for every single music practice (which was supposed to determine whether they played in the service or not) and they would practice and do everything they were told to do. Then some kid would waltz in, having NOT gone to any of the required practices and sit down and get to play. However, I can see that my kids have reaped the benefits of being diligent and responsible, which I can't say for the others.

Hard work pays off and to anyone with half a brain, they will notice :)

Keep the faith!

Oh, and Collin will be at CAFA next year, just FYI. We have friends here in L-town whose home flooded late last year. We helped clean and gut and tear out and, having been through that little bit with them, made me see that I NEVER want to go through that. We actually considered moving closer to CAFA, but we got a curve-ball thrown our way over the Christmas break regarding the kids education. We really feel God leading us to Veritas next year. I want to continue homeschooling, but with that load and all the planning that goes with it, I am feeling overwhelmed just thinking of adding foster kids into the mix. There are several disheartening things going on with my brother who home-schools with us as well that has really put me over the top and I really want some time and energy left to devote to my own kids AND the foster kids and at the rate I'm going now, I got nothin. I know I will be giving up some control and flexibility, but it's a trade-off with some of the things I'll be getting in return. And, nothing is set in stone...if it's not working for us, we will take a different route ;) Starfish Mommahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02357460498875083845noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7915722163450250052.post-54824944748438377772016-03-20T06:48:01.716-05:002016-03-20T06:48:01.716-05:00Pauline, when you describe your place, it seems li...Pauline, when you describe your place, it seems like it has all the elements you want, except that extra space. Davi...It's great to settle on a workable plan! David and I made a list, room by room, of what needed to be done. Then we decided to prioritize the list and begin working on them in order. I think it's important, now that you know you're staying, to do this (list and prioritize) and once you start in one room, don't move on until it's 100% done. Over the years, we would start something and half way finish, get sidetracked and start something else. When we finally realized we had too many half-done projects, we felt overwhelmed. So, once we made our list, we vowed to actually complete each room before moving on to the next. We started with the living and dining rooms, since those are the most visible to guests. Just some thoughts for you. It usually starts to jell within the first few hours of completing a batch. I don't know if this matters, but I use the 100% natural Sure-Jell premium fruit pectin brand. I have a friend who makes jelly and they like theirs a little more liquidy than jelly so they add more fruit juice. If you did 4 cups juice to 5 cups sugar, it should have jelled so long as you let everything boil as indicated. I know the rolling boil that won't stir down is very important as is the 10 minutes of boiling once the jars are lidded and back in the pot. Could water have gotten in the jars during the final 10 minute boiling process? I'm sorry, I know how frustrating it can be to work so hard on something only for it not to turn out right. I can't believe I missed seeing this comment. This year has actually been going really well. Seeing how overwhelmed I was and how worried I was about juggling it all in this particular post, I am excited and surprised things have been so good this year. I am loving having Tuesdays off. I am getting my lesson plans done, able to do a little personal reading, able to plan other experiments and activities, as well as have lunch with my hubby on his lunch break every Tuesday :-D My kids are enjoying everything and we have gotten into a good routine. 4H offers my son activities that he needed and my daughter is loving her dance competition team. I am ready for the Christmas break tho as the business of the season along with everything else going on is starting to overwhelm me...lol! I've been reading a great new book by Dr. Tony Evans. One of the goals of the book is to help parents grow in confidence as they discover their worth as a parent based on God's Word. It’s called "Raising Kingdom Kids: Giving Your Child a Living Faith." He says, "It's far easier to SHAPE A CHILD than to REPAIR AN ADULT. Raising kids who recognize and retain their identity as children of the King launches healthy adults who have the capacity to stand strong in their faith." Equipping and guiding our children starts with us, parents! This is the most solid, thorough, inspirational and affirming parent book I've ever read! I love it and HIGHLY recommend it for all parents! www.raisingkingdomkids.comAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10837115727187800498noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7915722163450250052.post-80629105106925177662014-09-04T09:34:53.597-05:002014-09-04T09:34:53.597-05:00This comment has been removed by a blog administrator.otrhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03935863720373307425noreply@blogger.com
