School Starts August 6th :-D

School Starts August 6th!!!

We have all taken a much needed break for the summer, but are gearing up and getting ready for the new school year. For us, school starts on August 6th. The kids aren't as excited as they have been in the past, but they are getting older and their summer has been filled with lots and lots of fun and exciting activities and camps (probably more so than any other summer), so I can see why they are not as ready to let go of some of the freedoms they have enjoyed ;)

Each year, I try to ease the kids back into school. [To see our curriculum line-up for this year, please click here.] The first few weeks back, we will focus on just the basics: math and language. Starting in the fourth week of August, we will add in My Father's World: history, science, and Bible. The fifth week of school we'll add in Spanish and so on. I find this progression of easing them slowly back into everything makes the transition from summer to back to school much easier on them (and me...lol!)

I will do my best to blog weekly about our adventures. For me, blogging about what my kids do each week in school serves 2 purposes. First, it is a great way to get the word out to family and friends about what the kiddos are doing in school. At any time, they can pull up the site, look at the pictures, watch the videos, and read all about the fun they've had that week. Second, the blog serves as a digital scrapbook. I don't know about you, but my scrapbook and photo albums are overwhelming my cabinets! I cannot possibly fit even one more in there! This blog solves that problem for me :) Everything is stored on-line. My kids LOVE to go back and look at what they have done throughout their school adventures and there is nothing to put away and no mess to clean up afterwards :-D

In case you'd like to follow along, my first week of school blog post should be up by August 18th.

For those of you wanting to follow along specifically for the weekly My Father's World - Creation to the Greek posts, those will start a few weeks later (by September 8th). We wanted to try to get the different Jewish celebrations and feasts we will be learning about this year as close to the actual dates as possible.

Will any of you be blogging about Creation to the Greeks this year? If so, please leave me a comment with your blog address. I love looking at what others MFW'ers are doing :-D
